I considered several headsets before I made my purchase. The low cost of the UFQ A28 made it seem like a good choice, but I was a little nervous about an unknown brand with very few reviews. I took a chance and I'm very happy with my purchase.

I've had the headset for several months now and I have used them on several flights. I'm still on the original set of AA batteries (which I don't think were included with my purchase - if they were, I just put in some Energizers instead of whatever came with the headset).

The Active Noise Reduction (ANR) works surprisingly well for a headset in this price range. My flying club has a Bose Aviation X ANR headset that I used to use routinely, but my A28 works almost just as well, so I don't use the club's headset anymore.

It came with a nice bag. It smelled a little funny for the first few days, but it's odorless now.

I post a lot of aviation videos to YouTube under the username dan_der_flieger. You can get a good sense of how well the headset works by listening to the audio in several of my most recent videos. I've also added a short video to this review. You can't hear the ANR in the video (that magic happens in the ear cups and I get the audio into my camera through a cable before the ANR does anything with it). But you DO get a feel for how well the microphone works compared to the cheap headset my son is using. The mic is just as important as the ANR, in my opinion.

I did no small amount of research before purchasing these headphones. I can afford the Bose A20s but I had reservations about Bose customer service. I had physically tried a LightSPEED Zulu 3 and a Sierra. (Note: the Zulu 3 looks more rugged - more metal than plastic - than the Sierra) However, I knew from a LightSPEED owner they had problems with the Bluetooth. There is a delay that makes the Bluetooth almost unusable. Each party must delay response about 3 seconds to be heard. I don’t know if LightSPEED has fixed this issue. The LightSPEED is very comfortable. I evaluated the noise cancelling charts and the UFQ A28 ANR surpassed the Bose A20 (note I don’t use the ANR). I also looked at the UFQs company service ratings and the serviceability of the A28. Both were excellent. Since purchasing the UFQ I had a chance to compare with the Bose A20. I found no difference in the ANR. I do think the A20 is a very little bit more comfortable (slightly less squeeze pressure) but I’ve spent a lot of continuous hours under the UFQ and am very happy. The UFQ is definitely more rugged then the A20. The UFQ has the 3.5 jack for cellphone cable link that lets you use your mobile and communication together – I don’t think anyone else has this. The UFQ does not have Bluetooth. When I need that I plan on getting a Pilot Blulink. That will still keep my total purchase less than the Zulu or A20. Note I like having individual components so one failure does not take out the whole system. Finally the UFQ boom works very well. I think the A20 is a bit too short – I couldn’t get it right in front of my mouth. And I like the carry bag that comes with the UFQ.

VERY nice quality headset for the price. lightweight, and durable felling construction. The ear seals feel great and do a nice job at PNR (passive noise resistance). The ANR seems very good so far... I noticed the sound is much better when playing music with the ANR on. I will buy another one for my wife soon as long as the headset holds up over long term use.

I have been switching between the Bose and this headset just for kicks. There is no way I would pay for a Bose after using these. You could buy 4 sets of these for the price of the Bose.
Advantages: much better passive noise reduction than the Bose headset. Battery lasts a ling time. Very quiet ANR. Solidly built. Heavy duty cord and plugs. Auxiliary input jack for 1/8 inch input from phone.
Disadvantages: these are bulkier than the Bose (that may or may not be an issue for each individual). Not as many "custom" sound adjustments as the Bose. No bluetooth.
The reduced cost of technology makes quality items so inexpensive now; if you used to wear a set of David Clarks, these will blow you away. Enough said.

I can't really compare them to much since I am just learning to fly, but compared to the older David Clark set that I was supplied with by school for my first few weeks, these are fantastic! Lighter, more comfortable, and I could hear everything! The first day I had them on I was quite impressed with how much clearer everything was and when I was done with my lesson I found that I had forgotten to turn the noise cancelling on! Ha! Once turned on, I was stunned! I was thinking how I should wear these to bed at night to ensure a peaceful sleep! I had originally been thinking this would be a starter pair that I would later upgrade and keep these for eventual passengers, but I now know, when it comes time to buy a second pair for that purpose, I will just buy another set of these.

I bought this headset for passengers in my twin. I currently fly with BOSE ANR headset. One day I forgot my Bose so I used this headset. I was surprised, I was just a quiet as my Bose, about as comfortable, just a little heavier. But for the price a far better value. I have only had it for a few moths so shall see how it holds up but so far a very good headset. Why buy a passive set when for the same price you can get a good ANR set.

The item arrived even several days earlier than promised.
The ANC gives a much better noise cancellation, especially for the engine noise.
Distortion of the side-tone while sending disappeared by readjusting the side-tone SIT of the KTR2 board radio to a lower level and the mike amplification of the KTR2 to the half. Even with the ANC switched of, the mike signal level is sufficient. I optimized the adjustments of my KTR2 board radio for the UFQ28 headset.
The guidance manual of the UFQ28 mentions only an eventual adjustment requirement of the SQUELCH of the board radio. I advise all customers of this nice and low cost ANC headset rather consider the adjustments of the side-tone SIT signal and the mike amplification.
I can not evaluate the intercom use, because I use it in a one-seater.
